Chigiri plate

A by-product of the furniture making process are short pieces of timber. These are often too small to be used in other furniture but too nice to go into the pot-belly stove.

Hiroshi designed the Chigiri plate with these short pieces in mind. The ‘chigiri’ or ‘butterfly’ joint that couples the two different timbers is symbolic of the connections that bind people together.
